Motionbuzz donates new website to Snoop Dogg’s Youth Football League

We are pleased to announce the recent launch of SnoopYFL.net, the official website of Snoop Dogg’s Snoop Youth Football League. Our involvement with SYFL dates back to 2004 when we were contracted by their previous web development firm to work on some Flash animation for the original SYFL site, SnoopYouthFootballLeague.com.

Their original web development firm is no longer in business, so SYFL contracted us last year to update their site. We were able to freshen up the site a bit. But due to compiled Flash .swf and .NET files, a cumbersome table-based layout, and image-map-based navigation, we were unable to cost-effectively update everything. Plus, any future updates, even minor ones such as changing the name of a menu item, would be costly and time consuming. Unfortunately, the budget really wasn’t there for a complete redesign or custom CMS. But we were committed to finding a solution.

Enter Joomla! CMS

At no cost to the SYFL, we built the new site using Joomla CMS and a basic template. Then we migrated all of the content to the new site. With Joomla, the site administrator is able to easily add/edit/delete content, menu items, and even install additional modules. Plus, Joomla is open source and free to use.

Our goal was to build SYFL on a platform that will help them grow without incurring much expense. With all of the available free and low-cost extensions, Joomla will serve them well.

Is open source a good fit for your organization?

We can’t donate free sites to everyone, but we can help you determine if Drupal, Joomla, or WordPress is a good option for your website. Contact us for more information.
